Welcome to Sherwood Lodge - the ideal setting for rest and relaxation.

Sherwood Lodge is an exclusive retreat offering 3 large suites and 2 more modest sized guest rooms. Each retains architectural features from the early 20th century, such as open fireplaces, stained glass windows, extensive native and exotic timberwork, as well as arts & crafts and art deco influences. Guests will find tea and coffee making facilities, robes, fresh garden flowers, fruit, and drinking water in their rooms, as well as more mundane items such as iron and ironing board, hairdryer and toiletries.

img07The White Room (suite)
One of the two guest rooms on the upper level of the house, the White Room was the master bedroom for the second Mr Burbury and his wife. A favourite with many, this suite is light, expansive and airy, with spectacular mountain and garden views. A large bay window looks out directly into the canopy of the Magnolia Grandiflora enabling guests to study birdlife and blooms up close.

With direct access to the top covered balcony, guests in the White Room find themselves with the best of 'indoor/outdoor' living - soaking up the sun in the morning or enjoying a nightcap before bed under the glowing 2m stained glass dome in the balcony ceiling.

Approximately 65m2 (720ft2) in size, this suite features a super king bed, lounge suite, stereo & CD collection, and an ensuite bathroom with shower. The suite connects with Daphne's Room (via the balcony), good for families or small groups.

"My favourite place at the lodge is a white eyrie on the second floor almost floating among the
treetops. Leadlight windows frame the Southern Alps beyond."

img08The Burbury Suite
What used to be the library and manager's office is now a suite with private lounge and a separate romantically draped bedroom, capturing the warm afternoon sun. Both bedroom and lounge have direct access to the sunny, sheltered patio area at the rear of the building, where guests can enjoy the fragrances of the lavender, rosemary and roses from the garden.

This large suite (approximately 50m2 or (565ft2), has a queen size bed, a separate lounge with chairs to relax in front of the open fire, and stereo & CD collection. The ensuite bathroom features an original 6 foot rolled top bath and 'telephone' shower.

"We want to take the bedroom and sitting room to Sydney and plonk them down in Mossman. We have felt so relaxed and so welcome during our stay."
Allan and Joan, Australia

img09The Four Poster (suite)
Initially this was the lounge in the house. After the top floor was added and the front of the house extended in the 1920s, the first Mr Burbury made this his personal retreat, complete with a separate dressing room with fitted wardrobes and dressing table.

An extremely large (approximately 65m2 or 720ft2), lovely romantic room which basks in sun all morning and with fabulous garden and mountain views. At night guests can sneak out their back door to enjoy a candle lit soak in the spa pool with a glass of after dinner port.

The suite features a carved cherry wood king size, four poster bed, with Queen Anne style bedroom furniture, a comfortable 2 person sofa tucked into the bay window, writing desk, stereo & CD collection, and ensuite bathroom with large shower. The original dressing room is now a small bedroom with single bed, perfect for couples travelling with a young child.

"A lovely room with such a comfortable bed!"

Morning sun streams into this golden room. The other bedroom on the top floor, it opens onto the top covered balcony sharing the awesome mountain and garden views with the White Room.

A good medium sized room at around 35m2 (414ft2), Claudia's room has a super king sized bed which can be split into two king single beds, armchair and other bedroom furniture. This room has the distinction of the best original bathroom in the house (across the hall) featuring an inlaid coloured concrete floor, 6ft bath, separate shower enclosure with large rose shower head, and views of the field behind the house.

img11Daphne's Room
Originally the governess's room, Daphne's Room is quiet and secluded. Afternoon sun streams through rose bordered windows, and guests can capture the scents of lavender and roses on a gentle afternoon breeze.

At around 25m2 (290ft2), this room features a rimu framed queen size bed and a wonderfully romantic open fire - a serene spot to pull up a chair and read in front of a roaring fire on cooler days. Ensuite bathroom with shower.
